Carolyn Munaco Haines, Artist and 2009 winner of the Hampton Bays Chamber of Commerce poster contest is pictured here with winning subject, Benny Lupia.
"I've known Benny for a long time. Often, my father and Benny, would fish together. Having heard many stories from my dad about Benny, I not only know about him being an avid fisherman, I also know he's been living in the Hampton Bays for a long time, and that he served our community for 70 years in the fire department. Shortly after (my husband) Larry, joined the fire department (18+ years ago), my father acquired a boat to fish from. From then on, whenever I ran into Benny he would ask me how my dad was, and if he thought he was "too cool to fish the real way!!!" Even today, at age 96, when I run into Benny... he's always asking about my Dad and if he is still fishing." - Carolyn Munaco Haines ... more
